Empower Black Mothers

We believe in the power of community and mutual care. Black Mamba supports Black mothers and caregivers in raising their children by offering practical help, emotional support, and fostering a deep sense of connection. Through shared parenting knowledge, policy advocacy, and culturally relevant resources, we work to address the unique challenges Black mothers face.

Community Care

We believe in showing up for one another—through presence, resource-sharing, and action. We prioritize joy, and celebration as essential to survival and liberation.

Joy as Resistance

We prioritize joy, and celebration as essential to survival and liberation.

We fight for systems and policies that protect and empower Black mothering and their children.

Equity and Advocacy
"A Black mother’s voice is a powerful call for justice and love."

— Angela Davis

Our work

At Black Mamba, we recognize that to nurture joyful, thriving children, we must first confront and transform the conditions that undermine their potential. We are committed to reimagining mothering through a lens of equity, healing, and cultural affirmation, ensuring that every Black child has the opportunity not just to learn—but to shine.

Auntie Network

Auntie Network: a supportive network of local black mothers, grounded in shared experience and understanding, organized to support, mentor, and provide community for single mothers who struggle with navigating social services, academic interventions, getting children to doctors appointments, and advocating for their children within school. Many single mothers are forced to work multiple jobs to provide for their families, leaving them little time to do the work of mothering.

Sister Circles

Monthly Affinity group meetings for black mothers that provide opportunities to share their stories and heal around birth, pregnancy, single parenting, psychological safety for each other and their children

Workshop Series

Designed to educate and support new and expectant parents through the ins and outs of early childhood development, understanding the issues our children face today, and unlearning parenting approaches based in systemic cultural trauma in order to raise confident, emotionally intelligent, and joyful 21st century children,

Black Joy(ful) Learning Initiative

We see how cultural incompetence, and implicit bias, and the remnants of systemic racism—compounded by the lack of Black representation in classrooms and leadership—have created hostile learning environments for Black children. The absence of accessible, high-quality early childhood programs and intervention, culturally affirming arts education and responsive learning environments, has fueled an epidemic of disenfranchised Black learners. These systemic failures don't just impact academic outcomes—they erode confidence, identity, and belonging from an early age.

Freedom Through Literacy Initiative

Poor reading skills impact academic achievement and are directly associated with increased risk for school dropout, attempted suicide, incarceration, anxiety, depression, and low self-concept. In addition, literacy and reading help our children dream
